Old Glass Talhakimt/Tanfouk Pendant Necklace

In stock

SKU: neck45 Categories: , ID: 1009

The design of these early 19th century glass pendants may have originated in Africa but were quickly reproduced in India in the 1800’s and were made of agate and metal. The pressed glass version, as used here, were produced in Europe (France, Czechoslovakia & Germany) and were used as currency for trade in Africa. They are worn as hair ornaments and pendants in Mali & Mauritania. These are simply strung on waxed cotton cord with old silver & glass trade beads with Thai Hilltribe silver button closures.
